On January 3, 1777, General George Washington and his Continental Army out maneuvered General George Cornwallis to attack a rear guard brigade at Princeton. British Lt. Col Charles Mawhood attacked the advancing Americans at 7:00 in the morning on Quaker farmland just one mile south of the town of Princeton. The NJSSAR and other SAR Societies will lay a wreath near the spot where Virginia General Hugh Mercer was mortally wounded. There will be historical interpretation of the Revolutionary War events.
