SUMMARY:Washington's Landing in New Jersey
DESCRIPTION:Experience “the rest of the story” of George Washington’s fateful trip across the Delaware in 1776! \nOn December 11\, from 10am to 3pm\, please join State Park historians\, the Washington Crossing Park Association\, the First Rhode Island Regiment and other NJ-based reenactor groups who will give the public an opportunity to experience both the Crossing and the March to Trenton through the eyes of the men and women who lived it. \nThe encampment will take place at the New Jersey Park’s “Overlook\,” next to the historic Johnson Ferry House. Reenactors will patrol the lower park\, encouraging visitors to undertake a brief “march” over the Park’s pedestrian bridge and up to the Overlook\, where cozy fires and skilled reenactors will regale them with tales of the rich history that took place in Mercer County. The event will feature programming throughout the day\, as well as cider\, donuts and ongoing tours at the Johnson Ferry House.

SUMMARY:First Crossing of 2022
DESCRIPTION:  \nWITNESS AMERICAN HISTORY COME TO LIFE!\nEach December\, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of George Washington’s daring 1776 Christmas night river crossing. During the event\, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by General Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats. \nThe first opportunity to witness the reenactment is Sunday\, December 11\, from 11 AM to 3 PM in the Washington Crossing Historic Park’s Historic Village. \nThe actual crossing begins at approximately 1 PM. In addition to the crossing reenactment\, special colonial-era activities and demonstrations in the Historic Village will offer a full day of family fun and learning.  Justin Cherry of Half Crown Bakehouse will be returning to this year’s event with freshly baked bread for purchase. Author and professor at Penn State University Abington Friederike Baer\, Ph.D. will discuss and sign her new book\, Hessians: German Soldiers in the American Revolutionary War. \nFollowing the First Crossing\, a 3:30 p.m. wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the base of the Washington monument in front of the visitor center. Participating hereditary organizations include the Daughters of the American Revolution\, Sons of the America Revolution\, The Society of the Cincinnati\, and the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution. The public is invited to attend this free event. \nGet Tickets \nADDITIONAL DETAILS\n\nTo register as a reenactor\, click here. Registration opens August 1 and ends November 18. Reenactors must supply their own period-correct clothing.\nWashington Crossing Historic Park is located at the intersection of Routes 532 and 32 (River Road) in Washington Crossing\, Pennsylvania. Directions can be found here.\nParking is available on-site and will be clearly marked.\nIndividuals with disabilities who need special assistance or accommodations to attend should call the Visitor Center at 215-493-4076.\nIf river conditions do not allow for crossing\, ceremonies\, speeches and commemorative activities still occur. River crossings are contingent upon safe conditions for participants.\nFor more colonial-era activities\, the Old Barracks Museum in Trenton hosts reenactments of the Battle of Trenton and other celebrations during its annual Patriots Week festivities.\nDrones are not permitted at this event.
