DESCRIPTION:First timers\, arrive at 8:45 at the Nature Center to fill out Volunteer Application Forms. Anyone who volunteers for two sessions will receive one of our AWESOME t-shirts! You will have the option of updating park trails\, or removing invasive plants. We work until 12:30 PM or so and then go to the Patriots’ Crossing for lunch\, paid for by the WCPA!

SUMMARY:Spring Foodways at the Johnson Ferry House
DESCRIPTION:From Kitchen Garden to Table: 18th Century Dutch Foodways Program \nFoodways are the historical\, cultural and social traditions that surround food. Washington Crossing State Park historian Nancy Ceperley will present a Spring Foodways program at the 1740 Johnson Ferry House\, with cooking demonstrations of various dishes that include Spring fare\, using period “receipts” (recipes).  \nThe menu will be literally “from kitchen garden to table\,” with a focus on the foodways of the Netherlands and the New World Dutch settlers. Food preparation and interpretation\, as well as house and garden tours will be ongoing from 11 am to 4 pm. All interpreters will be in Colonial era clothing. For more information\, please call 609-737-2515. \nMembers of the WCPA Conservation Committee will be at the nearby Nelson House to discuss local native plants\, with a focus on the edible species that sustained the Lenape people. \nThis is part of Hopewell Valley Heritage Week: May 20th-29th: “Farm to Table: Honoring Hopewell Valley’s Agricultural Roots”  \n

SUMMARY:Jazz Concert on the Riverbank
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Washington Crossing Park (PA) and the historic Newtown Theatre are teaming up to present a free outdoor jazz concert on Saturday\, May 27 from 6 to 8 PM. The concert will be held on the banks of the Delaware River near the park’s visitor center. \nThe Triple Ts\, a Philadelphia jazz-fusion trio\, will play a mix of original music and jazz standards. Opening for the Triple Ts will be the Council Rock South Concert Jazz Band. \nAttendees are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner\, chairs\, and blankets. Alcohol is not permitted in the state park. Four-legged friends are welcome but must be leashed and under control at all times. \nNo registration is required for this free concert. Rain date is Monday\, May 29 at the same time. Washington Crossing Historic Park is located at 1112 River Road in Washington Crossing\, PA.
