SUMMARY:Cross Country Ski and & Snowshoe Clinic
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a 90-minute lecture and demonstration from 1:00pm-2:30pm inside the Nature Center. If snow-covered\, an additional 1+ hour outdoor ski/snowshoe lesson will be offered. If not\, trail maps are available for personal hiking on 2 miles of park trails. \nLearn about the different types of equipment\, what to look for in selecting your first pair\, how to dress\, basic 7 skills\, your 1st day on skis/snowshoes\, and where to go. Handouts are provided. \nIf there is snow\, participants must provide their own equipment. DESCRIPTION:The Johnson Ferry House at Washington Crossing State Park — the only witness structure still standing that existed at the time of the 1776 Crossing — cordially invites all to a Washington’s Birthday Celebration to commemorate the birthday of our nation’s first president. \nLearn some well-known and not-so-well-known “Facts and Quotes” about our first Commander in Chief and Founding Father. Ask our interpreters about the house and colonial life. Colonial education and quill pen writing will be ongoing in the upstairs bedchamber. \nGingerbread\, one of Washington’s favorite treats\, will be prepared and baked in the winter kitchen hearth. Refreshments of “1740” ginger snaps and punch will be available to all. \nThis is a great family event for school age children and above! \nCome and go as you like as activities are ongoing.
