SUMMARY:Thomas Jefferson Live
DESCRIPTION:John Stewart has been deeply interested in the life of Thomas Jefferson ever since he was a student at the University of Virginia. \nJohn has lectured on Jefferson’s life and influence in American History to schools\, civic groups and business audiences around Florida\, and up the east coast\, for over 30 years. Visit his website\, thomasjeffersonlive.com\, for more information. \nNow\, John portrays Jefferson in clothing\, language\, and ideas.  He will be speaking on “How a Lad from Rural Virginia Came to Write the Declaration of Independence”. He will go into some depth on Jefferson’s thinking and suitability for this watershed event in American history. An important part of his presentation takes the form of answering questions from the audience. You will be entertained by his convincing portrayal of Jefferson\, as well as benefited from his extensive knowledge of Jefferson’s life. \nJohn’s commitment to the preservation of the lessons and examples of historic early American personalities is complimented by his work as past President of the Palm Beach and St. Petersburg Chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution\, his work as state chair of the annual SAR Knight Essay Contest for high school students\, and over 160 appearances before audiences large and small\, and in classrooms\, which focused on teaching the facts about the American Revolution and Thomas Jefferson. Another notable contribution of his is a teaching video by Jefferson requested by the Florida Dept. of Education for statewide classroom enrichment purposes.

SUMMARY:Old Barracks Grand Reopening Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join the Old Barracks Museum as we celebrate July 4th and America’s 250th anniversary with our grand reopening. We are excited to welcome guests back to the museum and unveil the results of our year-long restoration. The official opening will be at 10:00 AM when we welcome local officials to help us swing open the gates. Visitors are invited to a preview of three new exhibits that highlight the site’s\, as well as New Jersey’s\, vital role in American history. We will also be displaying for the first time in decades George Washington’s Inaugural Flower Arch\, the original historic arch that he passed under during his inaugural march through Trenton. The celebration will include a recreation of the arch\, covered with hand-dyed wood flowers\, each representing a donor. A group photo will be taken with the donors at 11:00 PM. The vocal duo “Liberty Tree” (Stacy Roth and Bob Dupre) will sing “Welcome Mighty Chief\,” an ode written by Major Richard Howell to the tune of Handel’s “See the Conquering Hero Comes\,” at 10:30 AM. Join us for a day filled with living history\, celebration\, and community as we honor our heritage and look to the future!

SUMMARY:The Blawenburg Band
DESCRIPTION:The Blawenburg Band will perform at the new Museum’s outdoor amphitheater from 8-9:15 pm. \nThe band’s musical programming is diverse\, with a repertoire that includes American favorites\, Broadway and movie medleys\, marches\, works by local composers\, and popular classics. For our country’s 250th anniversary\, they will include a selection of authentic music that would have been heard during the revolution! \nThe band’s conductor\, Dr. Jerry Rife has been the directing the Blawenburg Band since 1985. Under his guidance\, the band has grown from a small-town band in the 1980s to a 75-member musical organization that performs about 15 concerts each year. Dr. Rife’s leadership has moved the band  to a prominent position in New Jersey. \nBring a snack (no alcohol allowed!) and enjoy these fine performers!
