Register Here \nWhy did the Continental Army encamp its main force at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778? What was the physical impact of the encampment?  How did the location of the encampment benefit the patriot cause militarily as well as in matters of foreign policy? \nHistorian Kenneth Gavin will explore these questions to reveal a complex set of social\, political\, economic\, and strategic factors that determined Valley Forge to the only viable option for the army’s 1777 encampment.

DESCRIPTION:The Battle of Trenton will be recreated by using miniature figures\, dice and “Flint & Steel” rules developed by Richard Kane who will also be managing the game.  Visitors can observe and some will be able to participate as the historic military commanders by issuing orders to their military units.  As Colonel Rall can you save the Hessians from being captured by General Washington?  It’s your chance to change history! The Battle of Trenton will be recreated at 1 PM at the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville\, New Jersey. \nThe Visitor Center Museum will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. featuring The Swan Historical Foundation’s Collection of 500+ Colonial and Revolutionary War artifacts.

DESCRIPTION:Join us the 4th Friday of each month from 11:00am – 3:00pm\, this May to September to learn about life on the Thompson-Neely Farmstead. In the 18th Century much of Bucks County was cultivated farmland\, with a wide variety of activities required to keep them running. From Animal care\, to structure maintenance\, to harvesting and preserving\, each of these programs at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead will cover a different set of tasks that would be performed on the farm\, so that you can see and experience what life was like for many people in the years surrounding the Revolution. \nMay’s Program will cover some of the various ‘chores’ that needed to be done on the farm during the year\, such has Planting and cultivating the crops for that season\, but also improvements such as building a new gate and forging a new latch.
