DESCRIPTION:Join us at the State Park’s Sullivan Grove Pavilion\, near the Visitors Center Museum\, where local historians and reenactors will staff a series of tables that feature images and objects highlighting various topics. Members of the First Rhode Island Regiment and the WCPA will discuss such matters as: \n\nBlack soldiers during the Revolution\nThe integrated seafaring unit known as the Marbleheaders\nSmallpox inoculation and treatment in the 1700s\nFerry boat operations on the Delaware River\nand more!\n\nOn July 28th we will be looking towards the future as well\, with a NJ State Park Service table that features details about the Park’s once-in-a-generation restoration project\, which will include millions of dollars worth of capital improvements such a new roads\, updated signage\, restored buildings\, and of course its $14 million new Visitors Museum. View drawings and a model of this beautiful new state-of-the-art structure and examine details of its exciting features\, including the Swan Collection of Revolutionary War artifacts\, the George Harding mural\, and the restoration of its nearby George Washington Memorial Arboretum. \nAt 3pm\, join us for a brief kickoff ceremony at the site of the new museum\, with refreshments!

DESCRIPTION:Want to “unplug” your kids from the modern world? Send them back in time at our Colonial Days Mini Camp! Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) makes for a great educational (and fun!) trip! For 2024 the park is offering a special program specifically designed for elementary-age students ages 7-12. \nThis two day fun and educational camp will be offered on July 29-30 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Washington Crossing Historic Park at the Thompson Neely Farmstead. Drop off is from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM. \nOn Day 1\, students will learn about and experience 18th century military life. On Day 2\, we will explore 18th century civilian life\, which will include presentations of daily life and trades. \n\nDuring Colonial Day camp\, students will rotate through activities to learn about colonial life and the events of Christmas Night 1776. \nDay 1: Soldier Day \n\n\nBuilding a brush hut\nExperience camp life\nParticipate in soldiers’ drills\nDemonstrations with muskets and cannons\n\nDay 2: Civilian Day\n\n\nTour the Thompson-Neely House & Mill\nMeet sheep living at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead\nDemonstration of gardening\, planting\, and harvesting\nTake a nature walk with native species and forage for plants\nPlay 18th century children’s toys and games\n\nWe’ll also take time for a recess and a picnic lunch\, lunch is not included. A few scholarships are available for students with a financial need. Funding is limited so we encourage interested applicants to reach out ASAP. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a series of Free Weekly Living History programs that we will be conducting in the park on Fridays in April – June at the Lower Park\, and then Fridays and Saturdays in July – September at the Thompson Neely Farmstead. \nThese programs will cover a variety of topics surrounding the life of Soldiers and civilians during the American Revolution. \nReenactors and demonstrators will discuss the topic/activity they are portraying while also providing context for how this would affect life during the American Revolution. \nJuly – September demonstrations will take place at 12:00pm\, 1:00pm and 2:00pm. \nWeekly Living History Programs are sponsored by the Albert W. Bader Foundation\, Americana Corner and generous contributions from Christopher and Mary Jane Beck and the Starke Family.
