DESCRIPTION:Join us the 4th Friday of each month from 11:00am – 3:00pm\, this May to September to learn about life on the Thompson-Neely Farmstead. In the 18th Century much of Bucks County was cultivated farmland\, with a wide variety of activities required to keep them running. From Animal care\, to structure maintenance\, to harvesting and preserving\, each of these programs at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead will cover a different set of tasks that would be performed on the farm\, so that you can see and experience what life was like for many people in the years surrounding the Revolution. \nMay’s Program will cover some of the various ‘chores’ that needed to be done on the farm during the year\, such has Planting and cultivating the crops for that season\, but also improvements such as building a new gate and forging a new latch.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our third annual Juneteenth Celebration as we honor and reflect on the contributions of Black soldiers during the American Revolution and Civil War\, explore the meaning of Juneteenth\, and celebrate its enduring legacy. This free event will feature engaging speakers\, living history\, and lively musical entertainment. Pre-registration is required due to limited space. \nEvent Schedule: \n2:30 PM – 4:00 PM\, Lecture and Presentation Featuring \n\nMatthew White\, Research Fellow for Friends of Washington Crossing Park\, will present groundbreaking research on people of color—both military and civilian—who contributed to Washington’s legendary crossing of the Delaware River. He is a historian focused on slavery\, abolitionism\, and Revolutionary-era politics. Matthew holds an MA in History from Rutgers University and is completing his PhD at The Ohio State University. He contributed to the Museum of the American Revolution’s 2023 exhibit\, Black Founders: The Forten Family of Philadelphia\, and has published extensively on the Revolutionary origins of antislavery policy in Pennsylvania. His work has uncovered over 100 individuals previously unknown in the historical record\, offering fresh insight into this iconic Revolutionary War event. Matthew’s presented research is part of a NPS grant-funded project entitled Calling Forth the Legacy of Jacob Francis: The Revolutionary Road to the Civil Rights Movement. This project is being supported in part by an African American Civil Rights Grant from the Historic Preservation Fund administered by the National Park Service\, Department of the Interior.\nLinda Salley\, President and Executive Director of the African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC)\, will speak on the significance of Juneteenth and the importance of remembering and teaching African American history. A retired educator from the New York City Board of Education\, Linda is a passionate advocate for African American history\, community collaboration\, and youth education. Under her leadership\, the AAMBC has developed impactful programs\, including educational trips to Washington\, D.C.\, and partnerships with local institutions such as the Mercer Museum and The Peace Center. A gifted quilter and storyteller\, Linda brings energy and inspiration to every project she touches.\n\nThe Lecture will also be available to view virtually via Zoom \n4:00 PM – 5:00 PM\, Living History \n\nLiving History Co.\, led by Founder Steven Thomas and Events Manager Kevin Chapman\, is known for bringing history to life through compelling\, research-based presentations used in schools\, heritage sites\, film and television. Interpreters from Living History Co. and Washington Crossing Historic Park will present engaging living history impressions focusing on the vital contributions of Black soldiers and civilians during the American Revolution and Civil War\, particularly in the Bucks County region. Interpreters will be dressed in authentic period uniforms and engage directly with visitors\, offering a powerful\, personal glimpse into the lives of people of color who shaped American history. Guests will also have the opportunity to view equipment and typical soldier kits while engaging in conversations with reenactors from both eras about the daily life\, challenges\, and experiences of soldiers during both eras.\n\n5:00 PM – 7:00 PM\, Live Music by The Quake Band \n\nDance into the evening with The Quake Band\, Philadelphia’s premier high-energy party band. DESCRIPTION:  \n \nAcclaimed author Rick Atkinson\, Pulitzer Prize winner\, and author of\, The British Are Coming and The Liberation Trilogy\, is returning to Washington Crossing Historic Park to discuss the 2nd entry in his ongoing Revolution Trilogy\, *The Fate of the Day*. Atkinson’s newest work picks up the history of the Revolution where he left off\, and covers the years of 1777-1780\, where the Continental army went through some of its toughest challenges. \nThis Lecture will take place on June 10th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. It will feature a lecture by Rick Atkinson on his new book\, as well as time for him to sign purchased books. Tickets are $40 to attend\, $65 to attend and get a copy of the book\, and $90 for two attendees and one copy of the book. Each month’s program will run from 11-3\, and will cover various aspects on military life during the American Revolution. The programs will take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month April – September. There is no admission or registration\, all you have to do is show up and be ready to learn something new! \n  \nThis month will have our reenactors constructing ‘brushhuts’ as part of their encampment. Learn from our reenactors on how the army built shelter for itself while on campaign\, and how the enlisted men of the Continental army lived and worked together while not on the battlefield.

Participants will briefly learn about how invasive species are impacting New Jersey's forests. Register Here \nHessian-born Christopher Ludwick was already a veteran of European warfare and an experienced mariner by the time he washed ashore in British Philadelphia in 1755. A skilled baker\, he made that city his permanent home and\, through private frugality and industriousness\, realized great wealth and community status. When imperial politics thrust the British Empire into revolution\, however\, Ludwick became a dedicated supporter of America’s glorious cause. He ultimately dedicated the rest of his life to fighting oppression\, as his crusade continued beyond Yorktown. Indeed\, his efforts to help others continued posthumously\, beyond even the crushing silence of the grave. \nShawn David McGhee (PhD\, Temple University) is a political historian of eighteenth-century British North America and author of No Longer Subjects of the British King: The Political Transformation of Royal Subjects to Republican Citizens\, 1774-1776 (Yardley\, PA: Westholme\, 2024)

DESCRIPTION:Join us the 4th Friday of each month from 11:00am – 3:00pm\, this May to September to learn about life on the Thompson-Neely Farmstead. In the 18th Century much of Bucks County was cultivated farmland\, with a wide variety of activities required to keep them running. From Animal care\, to structure maintenance\, to harvesting and preserving\, each of these programs at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead will cover a different set of tasks that would be performed on the farm\, so that you can see and experience what life was like for many people in the years surrounding the Revolution. \nFor June\, Our historical interpreters will demonstrate some of the household tasks\, that the family would need to get done alongside the of the farm work. This includes making candles\, churning butter\, and of course\, everyone’s favorite\, laundry.
