Participants should wear sunscreen\, sturdy work clothes and boots\, and bring water. \nIf you’ve never volunteered with us before\, please arrive at 8:45 at the Nature Center to fill out Volunteer Application Forms. Anyone who volunteers for two sessions will receive one of our AWESOME t-shirts!

In two classes\, one for adults and one for children\, you will learn to create Christmas tree ornaments using natural materials. \nYou will learn how to craft quilted pinecone ornaments and create a perfect star out of twine to give your tree an earthy feel. \nIn addition to preparing pinecone ornaments\, kids will be treated to a holiday-themed story time\, decorating gingerbread cookies\, completing a paint and scratch winter wonderland scene\, and designing their own wrapping paper. \nThis is a great way to create holiday memories with your little ones that will last well past the decorations being taken down. \nCost is $30 for members\, $35 for nonmembers. If the crowds on Holly Nights are not your thing\, you may enjoy this more intimate tour of the Manor House and Kitchen House. Each tour is limited to only 25 people. In this relaxed setting\, you will learn about the food and holiday traditions the Penns celebrated. \n\nJoin us Friday December 15th\, Saturday December 16th\, Friday December 29th or Saturday December 30th to experience William Penn’s home in the warm glow of evening candlelight. DESCRIPTION:Each December\, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of George Washington’s daring 1776 Christmas night river crossing. During the event\, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by General Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats. \nThe 71th annual Christmas Day crossing reenactment is set for Monday\, December 25\, from noon to 3 PM (actual crossing begins at about 1 PM). DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a 90-minute lecture and demonstration from 1:00pm-2:30pm inside the Nature Center. If snow-covered\, an additional 1+ hour outdoor ski/snowshoe lesson will be offered. If not\, trail maps are available for personal hiking on 2 miles of park trails. \nLearn about the different types of equipment\, what to look for in selecting your first pair\, how to dress\, basic 7 skills\, your 1st day on skis/snowshoes\, and where to go. DESCRIPTION:Trail Stewards meet at the Park’s Nature Center under the enthusiastic direction of Park employee Kevin Kavanaugh\, clearing trails\, removing brush\, and constructing water bars and other trail necessities. You will also have the option of removing invasive plants. The Stewards often meet for lunch afterwards\, courtesy of the WCPA. \nTools are provided although you’re encouraged to bring gloves or loppers if you like. Participants should wear sunscreen\, sturdy work clothes and boots\, and bring water. \nIf you’ve never volunteered with us before\, please arrive at 8:45 at the Nature Center to fill out Volunteer Application Forms. Anyone who volunteers for two sessions will receive one of our AWESOME t-shirts!
