Colonial Days Mini Camp 2024

Want to “unplug” your kids from the modern world? Send them back in time at our Colonial Days Mini Camp! Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) makes for a great educational (and fun!) trip! For 2024 the park is offering a special program specifically designed for elementary-age students ages 7-12.
This two day fun and educational camp will be offered on July 29-30 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Washington Crossing Historic Park at the Thompson Neely Farmstead. Drop off is from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM.
On Day 1, students will learn about and experience 18th century military life. On Day 2, we will explore 18th century civilian life, which will include presentations of daily life and trades.
During Colonial Day camp, students will rotate through activities to learn about colonial life and the events of Christmas Night 1776.
Day 1: Soldier Day
- Building a brush hut
- Experience camp life
- Participate in soldiers’ drills
- Demonstrations with muskets and cannons
- Tour the Thompson-Neely House & Mill
- Meet sheep living at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead
- Demonstration of gardening, planting, and harvesting
- Take a nature walk with native species and forage for plants
- Play 18th century children’s toys and games
We’ll also take time for a recess and a picnic lunch, lunch is not included. A few scholarships are available for students with a financial need. Funding is limited so we encourage interested applicants to reach out ASAP. Applicants can reach out to info@washingtoncrossingpark.org directly.
Capacity is limited to 20 students, bookings are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $150 per student for the two day program and online payment is required at the time of booking.
