This workshop is a 90-minute lecture and demonstration from 1:00pm-2:30pm inside the Stone Barn. If snow-covered, an additional 1+ hour outdoor ski/snowshoe lesson will be offered. If not, trail maps are available for personal hiking on 2 miles of park trails.

Learn about the different types of equipment, what to look for in selecting your first pair, how to dress, basic 7 skills, your 1st day on skis/snowshoes, and where to go. Handouts are provided.

If there is snow, participants must provide their own equipment. Rentals of both skis and snowshoes are available at Big Bear Gear on Rt. 29, 1874 River Road Lambertville, NJ, (609) 460-4784, www.bigbeargearnj.com. No equipment is needed to attend this clinic if there is no snow.

Workshop Co-instructed by Daniel Nurmi McAuliffe, PSIA, Langhorne, PA and Kevin Kavanaugh, Park Trail Maintenance, Ewing, NJ.

This year the workshop is located inside the Stone Barn, across from parking lot at the historic Johnson Ferry House. Enter the park and turn left. Proceed past the Visitors Center and follow signs to the Ferry House. Note: There is a construction site next to Ferry House for the new Visitors Center. Restrooms are available downstairs.
