Memorial Wreath Laying – Battle of Assunpink Creek at Mill Hill Park

The Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revolution, the Society of the Cincinnati, and the Society of Colonial Wars will be laying wreaths to commemorate the heroic actions of the Continental Army and local militia that defeated Hessian and British Troops during the “Ten Crucial Days” of America’s War for Independence from Great Britain, December 25, 1776 to January 3, 1777.

Attending will be representatives of the ancestral units that fought at the Battle of Assunpink Creek on January 2nd, 1777

  2. United States Marine Corps, representing the Pennsylvania, and Continental Marines

  3. 198th Signal Battalion of the Delaware Army National Guard, representing the Haslett’s 1st Delaware Regiment

  4. 103rd Engineer Battalion of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, “The Dandy First,” representing the Philadelphia State Artillery Company

  5. The 29th Division,175th Infantry Regiment of the Maryland Army National Guard, “Fifth Maryland,” representing Smallwood’s Maryland Regiment

  6. U.S. Army 111th Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania Army National Guard‘s 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division

  7. 3rd Division, 112th Field Artillery Battalion of the New Jersey Army National Guard, representing East Jersey Artillery Company, “Neil’s Battery.” 

  8. Queen’s Royal Lancers, “The Death or Glory Boys,” representing the Queen’s16th Regiment of (Light) Dragoons
