Memorial Wreath Laying – Battle of Assunpink Creek at Mill Hill Park

The Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revolution, the Society of the Cincinnati, and the Society of Colonial Wars will be laying wreaths to commemorate the heroic actions of the Continental Army and local militia that defeated Hessian and British Troops during the “Ten Crucial Days” of America’s War for Independence from Great Britain, December 25, 1776 to January 3, 1777.

Attending will be representatives of the ancestral units that fought at the Battle of Assunpink Creek on January 2nd, 1777 


  • Rutland, England, 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment B Leicester Company, representing the 17th Regiment of Foot

  • Fort Reilly KS, 1st Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, “Alexander Hamilton’s Own”, representing the New York Provincial Company of Artillery

  • Pennsylvania Army National Guard, the 1st Division, 111th Infantry Battalion, representing the Philadelphia Associators

  • Pennsylvania Army National Guard, the 103 Engineer Battalion, “The Dandy First”, representing the Philadelphia Artillery Battalion

  • Maryland Army National Guard, the 175 Association 1st Division, 175th Infantry Battalion, representing The Maryland Regiment

  • Delaware Army National Guard, the 198th Signal Battalion, representing Haslet’s 1st Delaware Regiment

  • New Jersey National Guard, the 112th Field Artillery Battalion, representing Neil’s Battery, East New Jersey Artillery

  • Also in attendance will be the President General of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Color Guard Units from the SAR Societies from New England, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia​.​
